A little history

Where we come from, where we stand, and where we are heading.

  1. Portrait of Carl, founder of Oacen
    Carl · founder

2024–2026. With money in the bank from his previous coaching business, Carl sets out with a dream of building technology on the human frontier. This means deep immersion in software development, computer architecture, robotics, and of course artificial intelligence. Among other things via courses from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Colorado Boulder.

  2. Theo · SO-101

June 2026. Our first 3D printer arrives. Carl and his little brother Theo print and assemble Oacen's first robot. A pair of near identical SO-101 arms. One arm acts as the leader (black), the other as the follower (white). Each arm is six Feetech servo motors at different voltage and torque levels.

  3. SO-101 · autonomous

July 2026. We collect a little over thirty demonstrations on the leader arm and train Oacen's first Moana AI model. The task is simple: find the apple, pick it up, and place it on the cutting board. The robot now solves it entirely on its own.

  4. Emma testing Moana Virtual with a VR headset and controllers
    Emma · Moana Virtual

August 2026. With Moana Virtual, control moves into VR. Here Emma tests the operating system. Robots can now be deployed anywhere in the world, teleoperated from Oacen's head office, and trained gradually to do the work more and more autonomously.
